Jul 24 - and the crowd arrives

I finally got out for a decent ride, 25 miles out and back, riding 522 east to Golden Valley.  It's actually not a bad route (hard to get lost !), with so-so chipseal for the first 7 miles, smoother chipseal on the 6 miles from Tornados to Loring and then good pavement.  The wind was SSE so it was fairly neutral most of the ride.   I'm feeling better, finally, after my slog-fests in the mountains.

When I got back, David and Vanda were already here.  I told Vanda to enjoy the calm before the storm.  That storm arrived about 5:30 -- a record-setting 10:30 from door to door for Jeffrey.  They only made one stop just before the border.  I'm not in that much of a hurry these days !

People and luggage piled out and made their way into the cottage.  A couple of hours of noise followed, with balloons being batted, kids running around, Jason, Lo and Kim joining in for a while - it's like everyone was finally out of jail.

I'd put on a ham on the grill earlier and that, with Sandy's smashed potatoes and green beans, fed the crowd.  We then celebrated Matthew's birthday with the cake that Lauren made - he turned 2 years old on the 24h - but have saved the presents for today.

That day, a good day, was done, at least for me !

Onward ...
