Sep 18 - long meeting, easy drive

Our meeting went until around 1:30 p.m.  Part of the reason is that the restaurant was too noisy to have a conference call.  We expected three by telephone, which is a "new thing" for us but needs to become a standard moving forward, if we want to keep more members engaged in the day-to-day running of the club.

Due to the noise, we left the restaurant and went to Guy's office about 10 minutes away, so instead of starting at 10am, we started at 10:30.  Not everyone is used to giving a succinct presentation ... 'nuff said.  At one point I threw something at Dick who was snoring.

I remember meetings like that -- after eating, people sleepy -- I'd stand up front and constantly move from side to side, close and far, keep those eyes following me, keep the people awake -- fire questions, ask for comments, keep them on their toes ! (or at least at the edge of their chairs :)

We only had three members attending who weren't board members, one on the telephone and two present.  As a result, most of us had been through this material before, more than once.  Next time we need more member attendance, whether that be via web or some means.

Anyway ... I had found a church close by in Kanata and went there for 8am.  Dick had gone for a run, his 10k plans turned into 12 because he got lost.  My legs felt ok but my shoulder was aching; my shoulder and my right wrist.  Hmmm.

Leaving Kanata, I hopped onto the 417 and didn't stop until Corbeil, diesel-ing up and then onward.  I got home at 6:40.   Oh yes, I had stopped along the roadside to talk to Alnasir about the upcoming Tanzania trip.  He called me and I couldn't understand him over the car speaker phone with all the road noise.

Sandy had been to Parry Sound and had an already-cooked chicken from Sobey's, which made for a good meal (and will make for a couple of upcoming lunches).

I had unloaded the car last night upon arrival, except for the bike.  That will come down this morning and is due for a cleanup after all the rain.  My biking clothes didn't make it any further into the house than the laundry room and straight into the washing machine last night, as they were still damp and would be stinky if they sat around too long.

We have dense fog out there now and 60F.  Other than bike cleanup, I have no definite plans for the day other than getting over to the point and seeing how the blasting has changed the landscape, so to speak.  That's just curiosity.

Oh yes, and I now have the ingredients for mozzarella ... it's only supposed to take 20 minutes to make ... but that's probably if you've done it several times before.

Sandy is heading south, having lunch with Kylie and then dinner with Joyce, hair appointment and visit to the St. Lawrence market tomorrow and back here tomorrow night.  Cassie and I will have to manage without her.

Speaking of Cassie -- she went crazy when I got back last night; so excited.  With a dog, you always know that you're loved !

Onward !
