Nov 23 - we're close ...

First, our thoughts are with Gavin Davies, who goes under the knife today, surgery on his neck.  That should hopefully correct the ever-so-tight channel for his spinal nerves and set him on the road to living a normal life again.

-------

Some wrap-up yesterday:

-- template done for the outdoor counter top.  That's going to be poured and highly polished concrete, embedded with shells.  Delivery of that won't be until we're back in January.

-- fellows back to fix the steps, looking good now other than one small one that went in upside down ... and pour the concrete under the hurricane shutter tracks.  I'm now ready for re-installation of the shutters.

-- heard from Dwayne, the painter, who will be out next week to quote on outside painting

-- the gas grill is installed, albeit on a temporary foundation because we're missing said counter top.

-- I buried one of the wires that runs from the front to the garden, on Gene's side ... one more to go and then the two wires at the back.  The back will be easier; the end is in sight for that exercise.

-- talked to Dave Ask (outdoor kitchen guy) who could also do soffits -- he's a Dave-of-all-trades guy, like me and Jason, just that they get paid, I don't.  He said that the existing soffits could get washed, along with the gutters, and the gutters could be painted.  I'll take that under advisement.

-- we did some washing and sweeping, so the back is looking better

-- Sandy is awaiting word on the front gardens

-- all the transplants seem to have "taken", including the three large hibiscus (would that be hibisci ?  seems like a Latin word ?).  Those hibiscus don't look great from afar but up close they are growing new leaves.

-- the major outstanding no-progress-in-sight item is the roof.

We decided to eat at the club; join the every Wednesday crowd ... but it was very quiet there, just one fellow at the bar and a table occupied in the dining room.  Everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving, I guess.

Today, Thanksgiving, we're invited over to Debbie and Harris for dinner.

Onward ...
