Oct 28/29 - if it's not one thing ...

So I guess that the 28th was going for a ride.  The supposed-to SE wind wasn't as advertised and I had a headwind coming back.  Oh well.  It was a good ride.  I hope to ride again today but it's going to be a cool one -- 46F out there now.  Perhaps that will help me get ready for the sub-zero-C temps on Sydney Melbourne in the mountains ?  One can only hope.

Yesterday, Sunday the 29th, I had big plans that didn't really pan out.  I had a few things to check on the skiff -- non working depth finder, motor tilt balky -- and thought that I'd dealt with both.  The depth finder was simply a bad connection.  The motor tilt worked like a champ when I gave it some exercise but then stuck a the island.  I coaxed it back down and once home, coaxed it up.  I'm going to have to drain and recharge the tilt hydraulic fluid again.  Really what I need to do is order new seals so that it stays working properly.

I called Spectrum to find out if we were paying too much for our legacy Brighthouse service and sure enough, I can update from 20 mps to 100 mps and pay 27 cents less per month.  Ok, that's a no-brainer.  I decided to go with the two package and include TV - they're coming today and will drop off boxes and check signals.  That was the easy part -- the phone call -- I then had to get the coax from the loft to behind the TV which required some attic work and help from Sandy.  It's not elegant, but it's there.  Spectrum can add their splitter and hopefully we're good to go.

Also tonight after 6pm we have the generator estimator coming.  That shouldn't take long but who knows.

Oh yes ... the new part arrived for the X5 trunk and it doesn't work.  I've got to get in touch with my local dealer and check part numbers.  It fits all the connectors but no cigar.  The dealer from which I bought the part said that the part had been updated, so perhaps it's simply (but expensively) the programming.  We shall see.

I'm running out of time.  I want to get the new tires on the X5 and the muffler / exhaust pipe fixed on the M5.  I'll take the M5 to the fixit place tomorrow a.m. and see what they say.

Onward ?  who the heck knows !
