Nov 10 - made it to LA

On the way.  The trip to LA was mostly uneventful.  The luggage took a long time to come out at LAX (close to 1 hour from landing); the shuttle got us to the Avis location immediately; the Avis queue took 1/2 hour.  Once on the road, we drove on city streets for a few blocks and found a Panera Bread for lunch.  We were both starving.  Traffic was typical CA to Arlene's ... all in all from landing to arrival we spent about 5:30 ...

Arlene and Karrie fixed dinner; we ate once Daniel was home from school.  We turned in early, like 8pm local time ... of course we got up before 4am EST and were on the shuttle at 4:30, so it was a long day.

Arlene and Ernie are planning something for us today, including picking up Ira who lives a little ways from here.  I'm sure that the day will go quickly and before you know it we'll be back on the road to LA, visiting with Alice and Peter, then to LAX again etc.

On a completely different note, I've been doing the occasional speed test since we had the service updated in FL.  From the desktop, direct wired, download speeds run 115 mbps and uploads around 12 ... if I recall the upload speed correctly.  On Wifi, that translates to about 12 and 10.

Since we've got so many gigs of cell data now, including carryover, when not at home I use the cell Wifi hotspot with the laptop.  I just did a speed test with that and got 25 mbps download and 32 upload, which is fascinating.  I just ran it again and got 24 and 29.  I don't know if at some point Verizon would throttle extended downloads and/or uploads.  I might test that sometime with a couple of gigs going both ways, just out of curiosity.

That's about it.

Onward !
