Nov 6,7,8 - a rough few days

I'm sure that if I dig, I can remember the 6th but the 7th was the really rough day.

On the 7th, I was prepped to do my 200k.  I ate, fed Cassie, put her out to do her business and then brought her in 15 minutes later ... no wait, she didn't answer my call !  I went around the front ... no Cassie. I circled the house ... no Cassie.  Oh no ...

I got out a flashlight and looked in the mangroves and at the end of the dock, in case she was mired in mud ... no Cassie.  Calling, calling, calling by then it was approaching 6am and I woke Sandy, with my thought being that Joanne had left for the airport and somehow Cassie had slipped into their garage.  We went over there and of course Gaby was all excited.  No Cassie.  She took Gaby for a walk, thinking that perhaps that might bring Cassie out ... no Cassie.

It was getting light, going on 7am ... her cell phone rang ... "are you looking for Cassie ?".  Oh yeah.  We went over to 5th and Magnolia and picked her up.  This dog who never leaves the property had wandered 2-3 blocks away.

With all the dire thoughts that had gone through my head my day was pretty much done in.  I wasn't in the mood to go for my ride.  I did a variety of packing things over the course of the day, never quite feeling "in sorts" (if that's the opposite of "out of sorts").

It's time to plant some flags and turn that invisible fence back on.

That was Tuesday.

Wednesday I did head out for my ride, finding a headwind both ways, but making good time.  I rolled back into the driveway only a minute after Sheryl and Jim had arrived.  We spent the next hour or so getting them squared away, my Harley on the other side of the M5; the Litespeed hanging; his machine on the other side of the M5; his trailer parked by my trailer.

Jim and Sheryl will be the main occupants here for the next two months.  They will have a short break from paradise, going to PQ for a few days in December after we're back, just so that they appreciate paradise all the more :).

We ate at the club; the usual Wednesday crowd being in attendance.  It looks like they're almost ready to open the bar area again.  I could see us eating there on Dec 6th ...

Today, pack ... really ... then head to the airport after dinner.  I've done very little.  The bike isn't even packed.  The next few days (or three weeks) are going to fly by (no pun intended !).

Onward !
