Nov 15 - hop on, hop off

We had a somewhat slow start but purchased our package of passes and used the first on the hop on / hop off.  With two different routes, we were on those buses most of the afternoon.  I didn't fall asleep !  That's really something.  The weather is sunny and warm; cooler in the shade and windy as heck -- 20-30 mph and higher gusts.

The main train station is quite close, which is where we bought the package.  Sandy also bought her ticket for the 21st from Sydney to Melbourne.  It's a 10 hour train trip !  For an extra 20 AUD she's riding first class.

I was just looking at the weather predictions for our riding days and it doesn't look like it will get quite as cold as it could be; we'll have rain the first day and then hot as we head into Melbourne on the last day.  Organizer emails are coming fast and furious.

I expect that a lot of people are arriving on Friday.  Hamid, for instance, flies out today (Wednesday where he is, Thursday here) and arrives here tomorrow, Friday.  I don't know what route a flight would take from the DC area; I'll have to check that out.  There must be a stop somewhere.  Could be Dallas, which would have been our route had we not visited Arlene and Alice.

We had Sushi for lunch, one of those places where the Sushi goes by you on a little conveyor belt and you take too many plates and overeat.  For dinner we went to a pub -- yes, fish and chips.  The batter on the fish was smashed kettle fried potato chips, which was delicious but not exactly low cal or low carb :).

Today we're doing the bridge climb.  My feet are gradually getting better but I'm walking slowly to not strain those tendons any more.  We'll leave here about 8am; our climb is at 9:20 or thereabouts.  After that, we'll have lunch and then plan on doing an Opera House tour.

Oh yes, I did put the bike together yesterday a.m.  That's what took some of the time.  All's well, AFAIK.  I was originally thinking that I'd get out for a test ride this morning but with our early start, that will be tomorrow.

Onward !
