May 11 - winding down

That new ipad -- went back to Verizon.  It came with strings attached, i.e. needed to be cellular activated.  In fact, the wifi-only new ipad from Apple would cost less than the cellular one from Verizon ... so much for their discount at the same time as purchasing a new iPhone.  All BS.  I now have no idea what my next bill will look like.

Aaron had his operation, with no conclusion, AFAIK.

I rode and tried out a feature of the Wahoo - display temperature - and wished that I hadn't.  I now know that the display will accommodate 3 digit temps - Fahrenheit.  It was bloody hot.

Flats 'R Us.  I don't know what's going on.  I'm getting flats from about 1 inch away from the valve, against the rim.  There's nothing wrong with the rim tape.  Dunno.  So, I cut a piece of tube and booted the new tube.  I still got a flat but that was due to a complete rupture of the tube elsewhere.  Perhaps the road was so hot that a weak spot precipitated that.  With my bike lying down to fix the flat, the Wahoo was saying 114 - heat from the pavement.

The 35's that I'm using expose the weak spots in cheap tubes.

Today is it ... packing, loading, prep for tomorrow departure.  We'll eat at the SYC tonight.

Onward !
