Stef and Aaron arrived on the 9th, flying in from Toronto that evening. Sandy picked them up because I had a RUSA conference call. They tried out a new pizza place just off Canal Street and I guess that it was a hit.
On the 10th they did some shopping in the area (groceries) and picked up their SUP boards and went SUPing. I'd added Thule racks for that purpose as well as to bring Sandy's kayak north. The racks will also work with my bike box and the ski box ... neither of which I've used for some time. Sandy pointed out that it's been 5 years since we last went skiing (and I hurt my shoulder, as a matter of fact ...) and of course just as long since we've been Scuba diving. Hmmm. I guess that biking has taken over !
Today they'll do more SUPing and I'll take Cassie out again, perhaps get out for a short ride. I'll do a longer ride on the weekend and am planning on 300k with Paul on Monday. It's time to get really rolling !
My 1200k ride opens for registration on Monday and I've been fussing with the website. I'm worried about having too few riders but have now sorted out volunteers, at least. In some ways I regret committing to doing that again. Time will tell if it was a good idea. When I ran it in 2015, a 1200k in Florida was a new thing. Since then Paul ran the Cracker Swamp and John ran the Tip-to-tail. We'll see shortly whether people are tiring of long Florida rides. My rider limit is 50. I've done pricing based on 35. I've got a surplus from the last time and could make do with 25 or perhaps less but I hate to cut support corners.
Onward ...
