Sep 24 - mostly beautiful day

It was a little cool; starting in the low 50's and getting up to the low 60's, but nice overall.  I went for a ride to 69 and back; Sandy drove down 69 to Parry Sound to get her toes done or something like that, and pick up some veggies.  Not much else happened.  As usual part of my day was taken up with RUSA activities; it's like a part-time, unpaid job.  I guess that inevitably something would consume my time and this is better than watching sports on TV !

Our satellite TV lineup completely changed a couple of days ago.  Shaw had been gradually clearing channels and then BAM, everything moved.  I have no idea what's on the satellite that our dish in Florida points to; we might get down there and find that we have no channels.  Then I'll have to see if I can point the dish at the other satellite and then we'll see if I can pull in HD from Florida. Maybe yes, maybe no.

I've also investigated using a proxy server / vpn so that we can "pretend" to be in Canada.  It seems that Shaw has found a way of blocking that.  The blogs and forums are full of people complaining but basically Shaw has to comply with the law and their broadcast agreements with the suppliers.  If there's a way to block non Canadian access, they have to ferret that out and block.

My only other "physical" activity yesterday was using the blower to clear the deck of all the tree droppings.  Mostly the mess is coming from the hemlocks now, with pine mixed in along with a little cedar.  Aren't evergreens great !  They really aren't evergreen; that just means that the "leaves" don't all fall at the same time.  The Live Oaks in Florida could be termed evergreen by the same measure.  There's the "full" season and the "thin" season. 

We now have tickets for a show in Toronto for Oct 1st, the day that I have an appointment to get the crowns installed.  We'll stay overnight in Toronto, return on the 2nd. 

Vanda's Dad is in the hospital with a bladder infection which keeps David and Vanda close.  They had to cancel coming north last weekend.  At this point we don't know if anyone is coming for Thanksgiving. Lauren asked about coming up next weekend with her boyfriend but Stef nixxed that.  The weather isn't supposed to be good anyway.
