Chore 1 - get over to the marina and make sure that the motor is running on the Hydra Sports boat. Check. Rough start but running. I also did some cleaning, right there on the inside rack. The motor and stern were covered in black oil that had dripped from the boat above. Yuck. I gave it a rinse without using a ton of water as the entire boat was very dusty and dirty from sitting there for six months. As part of that trip, I installed the batteries, of course, and made arrangements for the boat to be in the water first thing on Monday.
Chore 2 - back at the marina on Monday morning, do some more cleaning as it's now in the water and give the motor a good run. Even before I backed it out of the launch slip, the oil warning and light came on. I pumped the bulb and it went away, only to come on again a couple of times early in our trip but then no issue. With an added 25 gallons of gas, I headed out and to home. The water was high and for the very first time, brought it into our lagoon and docked along the side. It was still running rough at low speed, one cylinder misfiring even late in the day. I'm going to change the plugs and hope that does the job. If it doesn't, I'll have to let the marina mechanic have a go at it.
Jason, Lorraine and Kim arrived not long after I docked at our house and we opted to leave from there. We made our way to the inlet and out into the ocean. It was rough in the inlet but not too bad out in the open water. Back in, anchored at the island, we debarked and had a good long walk. Cassie ran and ran and ran ... a good hour+ of running ... she's truly amazing. Cardio to the extreme !
We had a good lunch at what used to be Inlet Harbor and is now Off The Hook, owned by the same named restaurant in the Beachside Publix Plaza. Back to the marina, the forklift operator was at lunch so we went to the yacht club, dropped off Lorraine and Sandy and then doodled around a bit before going back to the marina, getting hoisted out and cleaned up.
We had dinner at the Thompson Signature Restaurant - scallops, risotto and asparagus. The risotto was a success this time; Sandy has her technique back. She failed the math test, however, having miscounted the number of scallops for the five of us. No matter, they were excellent and truth be told, I usually eat too many anyway.
We had originally thought that the Davies gang were going to stay overnight but they had plans for Tuesday and headed home to their rental, probably getting there by 10:30 or so ... not too bad. It's what I'd have done.
It was a fun day. The weather was perfect and it was nice being out on the water.
We are one day older. Better than the alternative. A good day spent with good friends. Onward.
