Nov 6-9 - re-tired

I had planned to replace the front tires on the X5 as they were quite worn; not so much the rears, so I ordered those.  On further inspection, I decided to do the rears as well ... and ordered those the next day and also decided that the M5 tires weren't going to last any longer ... sigh ... 6 more on the way in.  By the end of Thursday, I had those 8 tires piled in the garage along with the snows for the X5 that are on rims.  The garage was beginning to look like Tire Kingdom !

I made appointments for 9am and 12pm Saturday.  Sandy and I drove over with two cars and the M5 tires in the X5; dropped off the M5, then swapped cars a couple of hours later only this time with the X5 tires in the X5.  That sounds easy but a) they weigh a ton and b) I had to figure out how to get them in there !

A smart person would have simply had the tires delivered to Tire Kingdom in the first place.

Anyhoo ... the road noise is gone from the X5.  The M5 felt like it had a soft drive until I added more air to the tires.

Expensive !

So that was the 9th.  On the 8th, working backwards, we went to Disney Hollywood Studios with J&L&K and got to walk around the new Star Wars setup, do a couple of rides and eat at the new restaurant - Toledo - that's in Coronado Springs resort.  It was good.  Even better, the company was good.  I want to get over to Epcot in the next few days and we'll see if we can come up with a day to do the after hours Christmas party.  We head north in 10 days ... yikes ... north to Hemmingford.

Of course, before heading to Hemmingford I have to swap the rims for the snows and they'll stay on until we get back from Christmas.

More backwards ... earlier on the 8th, I had a dental appointment, routine cleaning.  It's been a while - May.

On the 7th and 6th ... hmmm ... somewhere in there I did a 200k, consuming one of those days.

Oh yes, I played around with the new thermostat and the newly-arrived-in-the-mail 220v relay that I'm going to hook up in the basement of the cottage.  It took some fiddling with an open breaker box to get a 220v leads wired to the relay and then R & C & W wires to the thermostat and voila.  The relay has a builtin 24v transformer so it powers the thermostat.  I was able to turn the relay on with the Honeywell app.   I'm all set !  There's another version of the relay that works with 110v which would be suitable for the wine cellar but having cooked so much wine in the past, I'm a little leery.  However, just like the 220v setup, I would have a dumb thermostat downstream from the smart thermostat and relay so that in the event that it simply turned on and stayed on, the heater would cut out.  I'm less worried, in general, about not coming on at all.  There's a limit to how many backups of backups are really needed !

Cassie got out in the boat yesterday and we were rained on as we returned.  No big deal.  Cassie didn't care.  I had a jacket !

The temperature has dropped overnight, now 61F.  That's the coolest that we've seen it in a while.  Up north they had a 6" snow dumping and the road will be plowed.  I'll have to call Al and ensure that he has me on his driveway plowing list for this year.

What else ... hmmm .... enough for now.
