Finally getting in some kms with the 200/300 on the weekend. I feel better as a result and more prepared for Thailand.
Jerry arrived on Friday in time for dinner; we got some sleep and headed to Tavares in the morning. We took two vehicles because Jerry would head back to Macon GA from there on Sunday. At 7am we started riding and had a fabulous day on the bike; great weather. After getting some food we headed up the street to the Comfort Inn; cleaned up and then Jerry went off to dinner; I joined Paul at the Magic Mushroom. By then, all I needed as a large chef salad and they delivered the goods.
Sunday loomed with a huge rain system heading our way. I wasn't sure how far we'd get before getting very, very wet ... but we got through the day with only a short sprinkle about 25 miles from the end. We rode on wet roads, storms ahead of us but avoided being in the middle. That was amazing luck. Starting at 6am, we finished at 7:30, quite reasonable time for a 300k especially since I rode by myself much of the day, as all the groups were just a notch faster than I.
On Monday we had our second and final installment of vaccinations and then Sheryl and Michael arrived. Lots of chatting ensued but I was also mentally prepping for a call at 8pm. As usual, although this was my first RUSA Web call, it took 2 hours. Anything like that always expands to fill the space. The focus was insurance and Permanents and web support, assuming that we get insurance, no surprise.
Now it's Tuesday. We leave on Friday and have much packing to do !
Onward !
