Apr 17-19 - more of the same

More trimming, more riding, man it's hot !  Day after Day.  I was out early on the 19th and trimming.  Even though I never got out of the boat, I was drenched when I returned.   I left the boat in the water intending to take Cassie out before going for a ride but ran out of time.  I did stream Mass, this time from the NSB beachside church that's close to our Saxon house.  My church hasn't done a good job of keeping up.

I started my ride afterwards likely dehydrated and was drinking before I even got to Merritt Island.  That's unusual as I normally have to remind myself to drink about half-way through the 110k ride.  The wind was supposed to be SSE but it was really SSW or maybe even SW.  It was a real slog once I turned west and had 8 miles until I turn north.  I finished, of course, there aren't any other options, especially once I'm on the bike path.

There were a few more cycles and walkers out on the path.  Interestingly enough, even though so many people aren't working, it's busier on the weekend.  Habit ?

I had ordered (and forgotten about) a fingertip pulse oximeter.  It occurred to me that it might be a reasonable thing to have around.  Of course one of these was a constant companion on Kilimanjaro, checking morning, noon and night.  My ride over and showered, I put it together (ok, I inserted the AAA batteries) and gave it a try.  I guess that you want to have a baseline so you would know if your results are deteriorating.  My pulse was running high - in the 80's - and my oxygen low - 90-93.  This morning, rehydrated, my pulse was in the 50's and oxygen 99.  That's more like it.  Your heart works harder when blood volume is low.  Another toy that'll likely end up in a drawer somewhere .... :).  We have a blood pressure cuff too ... somewhere ... probably up north !

Sandy is wondering what we'll do with ourselves once she's finished weeding and I'm running out of mangroves to trim.  That's easy for me - there's no end to the mangroves without getting in there with a chain saw !

Eating well as always, we had Mahi for dinner, Triggerfish the night before.  Tonight we'll either have the shrimp that Sandy has frozen or chicken or pork chops that are also in the freezer.  In terms of "protein" (meat or fish), we've got a 4 day supply, I think.  I've got half the freezer full of frozen veggies that I like for lunch or dinner -- riced cauliflower, riced cauliflower & broccoli, broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, peas, lima beans - I think that's it.  Yesterday was time to make some more of my seed bars.  I'm well stocked with dates that came from up north and just reordered seeds from nuts.com. They're cheaper at Bulk Barn in Ontario but we're in Florida ...

It's hot and humid now.  76F when I got up this a.m. and feels like 100% humidity but says it's only 87%.  Sandy and Cassie just got back from their walk.  Rain is approaching, a line of thunderstorms from the NW.  I think that mangrove trimming will take a pause !

Onward ?
