There's a gradual slow down happening. Getting bored, I guess.
I get up, catch up on email (and even that's dropping off), read the repeating coronavirus news, have a couple of cappuccinos, putter around a bit, snooze, putter some more, have some more coffee ... typical day.
Yesterday was atypical as I had errands to run. Yeah, not really big ones though. Off the the UPS store to drop off two pairs of cycling shoe returns going to different places, adding to the one from last week. Naturally the Amazon return immediately provides a refund; the other two, not so much. I followed up with one of them - warehouse is backed up ... ??
From there, off to the roofing place but their office is closed. Called the number and within an hour someone came over - Marvin - and we looked at the chimney flashing together. "Why did he caulk this ?" - heck, I don't know. He said that it would be temporary. Anyway, they're going to reflash the chimney tomorrow, Wednesday. I'll tackle the issue of my out-of-pocket painting expense later. They are on notice.
I called our travel insurance / travel medical insurance people who were no better at figuring out the status of Canada than I was. If, however, it's still a Level 3 or 4, we're not covered. So ... I called the State Dept and actually got someone on the phone. She confirmed that Canada was still 4 - do not travel (essential travel only). That border closing is supposed to extend to May 21 - the provinces are trying to extend. Bottom line, we don't know what we're doing. We can probably talk our way across the border; question is - should we ? Perhaps, if we need to hold off, we'll go on a road trip - but is that a good idea ?
I had a chat with our RUSA insurance rep about an issue; finally received a legal retainer back after a couple of months of chasing (we switched lawyers at one point) and deposited that. There was some problem at their end and they couldn't find a record that they'd received. I hadn't had the RUSA bank account tied to my cell phone app but figured out how to setup more than one account. That was helpful. I have an ATM card for that account but it's never been used ! I've spent hours on the phone with BofA - scans of these bank generated checks don't show up in the register and can only be accessed by calling the Bill Pay people and then then snail mail a copy of the check to you.
What else ... not much. With some of these things in the works, I'd decided to defer my every-second-day bike ride. That'll happen today, another ride north. More wind.
Big stuff, right ? Everything seems to be in slow motion these days, including me. Out of curiosity, I checked my heart rate and oxygen level with the finger thing - 50bpm & 97%. I guess that I'm still alive. That 50 was after coffee. I wonder what it was before ?
Sandy and Cassie just got back from their walk. Sandy's getting bored too ... however ... walking is difficult at the cottage this time of year with all the bugs. There's an elliptical at the cottage but somehow that's more difficult to sustain. The stationary bike is even harder, for me ! She's been doing very well, completing her Apple Watch circles every day.
Onward ??
