Actually not quite. On May 8 we had dinner at the SYS Tiki. Nice change but felt a little strange. Tables were spaced out; no service at the bar; the "grand reopening" thinly attended. Our table was upwind from all except one. It felt quite safe.
On May 9, Saturday, I was on the bike again. Still wearing my old shoes, the Amazon delivery came in with the wrong size. I'd ordered 46's and they delivered 44's. Not even close. Now I've got two pair here to return. I haven't seen the refund yet from Bike Closet even though they would have received it a few days ago.
Heading north into another stiff headwind, advertised at 18mph but over 20 on the ground, it was ENE, I think or perhaps NE because I was getting some shelter in heavily treed areas. I sailed home.
Daytona was a LOT busier than it had been a few days earlier. Nowhere near as busy as normal this time of year, definitely not crowded, but hotels were open and people were out and about. Was social distancing going on ? By the looks of things, no. I couldn't actually see the beach but apparently cars were allowed back on and markers show where you can park, well spaced out. Has Florida beaten the virus ? No. We're opening anyway. Lives don't matter when there's an election at stake.
We had shrimp for dinner. Always good, this time from our freezer. Sandy tried to pick some up more from the vendor in the market but she was sold out. Next week Sandy will book ahead.
I need to make a Publix run - milk, guac, hummus, feta, chilis ... staples ! We're starting to think about what we'll have to bring north with us. The current plan is first week of June but we're still playing that by ear.
Cassie is wearing her zap collar a lot these days. She's taken to visiting Jim & Joanne & Gabby without an invitation. She knows all about the collar, doesn't even go into the front yard when she's wearing it. She sulks on the back deck. Yesterday she got a walk early and then a trip to the sandbar before I left on my bike.
Our marina is open again. Perhaps we'll get out this week.
Onward ?
