Jun 29-Jul 6 - another week in the life

People come and go next door; they come and go here too !

The only constant next door is Chili :).  Jason & Lorraine have been in and out; Gavin and Amanda; Kim; Graham ... there was even a visitation from Mike, Jill and their two girls.  They're very cautious, however, no close contact.

It's been hot.  The water temp is up to 82F, my threshold, and I went in.  I jumped in after a baking bike ride and my legs immediately cramped up; I sculled my way over to the Davies' dock and hung there.  Sandy is the only one who hasn't been in yet.

At our place, David & Vanda + Nathan & Mattie were here for Wednesday through Friday; paths were crossed on the driveway; Stef and Aaron arrived and then Kylie, Jesse, Lauren and Carter.  We are now down to 4 - all but L&C have left.  Sandy is taking them to Barrie tomorrow and might be meeting up with Joyce but hasn't confirmed that yet.

All the floats were out; David got in some fishing; the knee board etc. got some use; the Bayliner was in and out for a couple of days getting some exercise.  I did some mowing, yard cleanup, tree trimming, but all in short bursts; dripping wet each time I worked outdoors.  Sandy has been tending her garden; I've been tending the lake pump to provide water.

Now the Takagi tankless water heater is acting up.  Some research (the internet is such a wonderful thing) has shown that the issue is an overheat sensor, a long wire that wraps around the boiler, is probably on its last legs.  It can be bypassed but that's not a good (or safe) solution for the long term.    I'll see if I can get a replacement sensor but installation looks like a bear.  I guess that worst comes to worst, I'd replace the unit but they're like 2g expensive so I'll fuss with it first.

Florida is going covid crazy with over 30k cases in three days.  Whether that will calm down remains to be seen but with the number of parties on July 4 and a stupid governor, I don't think so.  Sooner or later everyone will have been exposed but if the average positive rate is under 25%, that means that the 75% will still have an opportunity to catch IT later.  Mixed messaging from above is killing us.  Canada, on the other hand, is relatively clean.  Sandy said that Parry Sound (lots of tourists), on Friday, wasn't showing as much restraint but Sudbury, on Monday (my day trip), was all masked up.   Costco, which advertises 10am as the opening time, was rolling at 8:30.  I took advantage of that.

Onward !
