Sep 23-29 - Bobbie

We lost my cousin Bobbie early Monday.  Recently turned 50, she has battled aggressive breast cancer for the last year.  Surgery, chemo, radiation, all to no avail.  A celebration of life will be held next summer.  She has a huge fan base as both she and her husband Paul worked at Ridley College.

I spoke to my uncle, her Dad, yesterday as well as our UK cousins Alan & Christine and my cousin Tracy.  I found out through the UK conversation that we lost one of our Irish wing, Ethel, about a week ago.  Ethel made a few trips to Canada.  My Dad carved her name into the new dock that he built - still there - Ethel Carr 1983.

In the meantime ?  I re-roofed the garden shed.  More roofing was delivered yesterday for the boathouse.

Sandy made a trip to Hemmingford, seeing the cousins and Aunt Vi.  She arrived back in time for wine yesterday.  We had a farewell glass & cappuccino & latte with the Davies - they head to Brantford today (30th) but Kim and Graham (and Chili) will be back on Friday; at least that's the plan.  At this point they, or at least not Jason & Lorraine, will be here for Thanksgiving.  Cassie's buddy Chili will be away for a couple of days.  She'll be bored.

A gust of wind took out the table night before last. It's tipped over before but this time the glass shattered into a million little squares.  It looked like a pile of ice on the deck.  The little squares were big enough to get stuck between deck boards.  That took a while to clean up.  Sandy will have to decide between a new table and a piece of glass.  I don't imagine that safety glass is cheap.

I've been out for a couple of short rides.  One was aborted due to impending showers; the other just short.  I've been busy and uninspired.  I really need a change of scenery.

Onward.
