We finished up our quarantine without issues and then headed into Parry Sound for groceries. We chose PS because there was wine awaiting pickup ! A couple of days later we went to Subury for groceries and then, two days later again to the St. Lawrence market for ... you guessed it ... groceries.
Actually these subsequent trips were as much about getting out and doing something.
In PS we met up with Bonnie Matthews, not planned but we were both in Sobeys. We had a good long chat.
On the weekend right after our PS trip, David and Vanda arrived on Friday night and we spent Saturday getting a tree. We had a good 6" of ice and were actually able to use the ATC which simplified hauling the tree to the house. Just shy of 19' after trimming the bottom and top and then adding the star, we turned off the fan as we moved it across the room. Next year we'll get a smaller tree ... we keep saying that.
Bringing us to Christmas Day, we had a quiet one. We celebrated with Tuna from the market, not the usual fare in the north. David and Vanda arrived on the 26th but not before we had a surprise visitor - Sheryl - here from Quebec. D&V were just as surprised as us. Sandy had been trying to talk her into coming without any luck; well, didn't appear to have any luck but apparently so! Stef, Aaron, Lauren and Carter arrived on the 27th; they too were surprised.
Snow galore. The 14" that we got shortly after arriving had receded somewhat but was capped by more and more and more. The snowblower has been getting a workout. Stef and Vanda have been snowshoeing; Aaron cross country skiing; me dog-walking and hauling wood; the days have slipped by.
S&A will leave today. L&C will go back with D&V sometime the 1st to the 3rd, depending on what David wants to do. Sandy is going to make a trip to Sudbury on New Years Eve - had originally been on the 30th but we're going to get more snow. She will take L&C or at least that's the plan.
In other news, neighbor Joanne came down with Covid which dragged on but she's doing better today. Jim belatedly came down and ended up in the hospital but is back home today. Apparently he had the monoclonal antibody treatment, or at least that's what I'm understanding 3rd hand. Joanne ended up on a steroidal inhaler for a bit but that might be over with.
I would really hate to lose neighbors to a hoax.
Onward ...
