Finally. Finally. I spent 45 minutes on the trainer. Just rolling easy. Watched an episode of Law & Order from my Plex Server. I was determined to get through the episode. I don't think that I've spent that much time on the trainer in ... forever. I hate the trainer.
I've been fussing with the ups, load etc. There are a bunch of things plugged in that are 12 volt; they'd be easy to run right off the battery. Then there's a 6 volt, a couple of 9's and two odd-balls - the modem which has a combination of 12 & 48 and the security system which is AC 10 volts. There doesn't seem to be an easy way of keeping everything running while we're absent without a large investment which isn't really worth it. Checking out inverters, even with the really pricey ones there are always a few reviews that talk about smoke, melting, fire ... hmmm.
It's been interesting though.
Yesterday was warm, slightly over freezing. Today and tomorrow are the same. Then the temp drops, not ultra cold but stays below freezing. Saturday we're supposed to get a snow dump of 8"-10". Unfortunately that will insulate the lake and the thin layer of ice that we have (2"-3") won't quickly thicken. We shall see.
We continue to eat well. You'd think that we were able to grocery shop. By this time next week, however, our food supply will have been diminished - not depleted but diminished.
We have to check in each day. At 5am we get the reminder. One day we also had emails from the public health officer. Today we had robocalls, both of us. The robo said that we're on day 7. I'll take that as gospel because next Friday we're outta here !
Onward ...
