Two hiccups in the last 24 hours:
-- the wifi sprinkler disconnected from wifi. I'm not sure why. Certainly my wifi has been up and down with router swaps but that didn't cause problems until now. The router also gets powered down each night for 5 minutes, along with the modem, but that's been going on for a long time. The correction was powering the sprinkler control off and on. I can see having to ask Lisa to do that when we're away but was hoping that it was rock solid ... guess not.
-- the cottage has gone dark. I expect that there's just too much snow on the dish. We have couple of warmish days ahead so I'm hoping that will self correct. For years I've thought about, but done nothing about, adding a dish heater. If Starlink ever becomes a reality, it has a built in heater. We shall see.
The first notice from the cottage is when the Blink has been disconnected for 30 minutes. The Honeywell thermostats send a notification after one hour. If it's a power outage, 2 of the thermostats will be affected but not the Blink, so I can diagnose to a certain extent. I also know that it's not likely something at the Xplornet end as that would self correct with my overnight power off/on. I feel like a NASA tech wondering why I cannot talk to the Rover ...
Snow on the dish is definitely providing a single point of failure ! When I had the old "welcome to your thermostat" dial-up thermostat, I could at least call via telephone. Now I'm in the dark. My only recourse, if it comes to that, is having someone clean off the dish or wait for Spring !
Here in the sun belt, out of the snow, the knee was a bit bothersome overnight. I suspect that I inadvertently slept on my stomach for a bit but cannot tell for certain. Whatever aggravation is occurring is definitely positional whether that's back/hips/leg/knee. I'm now on day 3 of the steroid ... will hopefully get out for a ride today.
Sandy is working away at the dock now having gone through one can of stain, laboriously brushing by hand.
Onward!
