Feb 25-Mar 6 - stll a puzzle

I know, it's been a while, but nothing much has been happening.  My back/knee is still a puzzle, sometimes presents itself as a back issue, sometimes as knee.

The extreme pain never came back so the steroid did something - actually it did a lot.  I have no issues sleeping although I've had to change my sleep position.  Lying on my stomach bothers my back and my knee - that's why I think that this is partly a back issue.  I'm aware of the knee most of the time and a) it clunks like its loose and b) the leg is jerky if I try and ride standing on the pedals.  It doesn't hurt significantly with day to day activities and the leg seems to be getting stronger but it's still not as strong as the right leg.  Odd.  Age ?  Overuse ?  Both a back and knee problem ?  Who knows.  At this point, I'm trying to exercise my way out of it.  Time will tell.

Speaking of exercise, I've been in touch with ride organizers in two parts of the world - South Africa and Australia.  Neither of them know whether travel will be possible.  Tantalizing opportunities indeed.  Oz is more likely in November but only if I work my way out of this back/knee issue !

Here in Florida-land, I'm continuing to do regular 100k rides.  The knee always feels better the next day but I haven't tried bridge repeats or anything like that.  I really should.  It's the only climbing around without heading over to the Orlando area.

After about 5 years of dithering and units slowly dying, I finally bought into the 1000 series of Garmin devices with the 1030+.  My two 705's are now on the shelf.  One of them will charge but not connect to a computer which renders it somewhat useless.  The other has a fairly rusty usb connector so it's not long behind.  The 1030+ is way, way overkill for what I'm doing but it offers some wifi support that I can't get with the 830, AFAIK.  Perhaps one of these days I'll use the sensors that I have from long ago - cadence, heart rate, speed.  My ant+ power meter wheels are long gone.  I was going to sell them but they were rusting away and ended up in the garbage. I may still have the hubs, don't remember.

Tomorrow is V2 day, yes, our 2nd Moderna shot.  Hopefully that will go well without any significant side effects.  Gene and Judy had theirs without side effects; we'll see.  Then we'll "hit the town" ... not ... but it will eliminate some lingering anxiety about the S-Show here in Florida.  It won't eliminate the irritation that I feel when a perfectly healthy person is in the grocery store without a mask.  I think that Publix should, as Walmart does, have a person posted at the entrance handing out masks.  It just p's me off.

NSB is really busy.  Bike Week y'know.  When I was riding on Friday, I took two calls on Merritt Island and stopped by the side of the road twice for 1/2 hour.  Numerous times I had to say "hold on" while a group of motorcycles went by.

I may ride today but the wind is a blustery "20 to 30 mph with higher gusts".  It's just crazy.

Onward !
